Withstands Common Upset Conditions

Run Dry

  • Ceramic bearings will tolerate run dry for short periods after the loss of flow
  • Teflon impregnated graphite bearings will tolerate slightly longer periods of run dry after loss of flow

De-Coupling

  • De-coupling can result in permanent loss of magnetic strength in the magnets
  • BTMD Series motors have a built in service factor of 1.25 to prevent decoupling caused by overloads

Thrust Reversal

  • Changes in conditions may cause sudden changes in thrust load
  • Uncontrolled thrust swings can cause internal damage and de-coupling
